OKK Koksovny, a.s. ('OKK')

OKK is the largest producer of foundry coke in Europe. The Company operates one plant in the City of Ostrava - called 'Svoboda' facility.

In addition to various types of coke produced for NWR's client base on both domestic and foreign markets, coking plants produce an indispensable volume of coke-oven gas, desulphurised below the level of 500 mg/m3, tar, benzol, ammonium sulphate and sulphur.

Under Coking Plant Optimisation Programme ('COP 2010'), all coking production was consolidated at Svoboda facility. The Jan Sverma plant was shut down by the end of 2010. Works to modernise the Svoboda facilities included the refurbishment of battery no. 8. Additionally, a new 220kt battery No. 10 was constructed and its operations commenced at the beginning of 2011.
