Jiří Suchánek has become the new Director of the OKD Foundation, one of the largest corporate foundations in the Czech Republic. After obtaining a degree in economics, Suchánek went on to gain valuable work experience that made him an ideal candidate to lead a foundation that supports good causes – he acted as director of the SOBOfest music and sports festival, and as the coordinator for the Czech Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai EXPO exhibition.
“Support for non-profit projects particularly in the region where OKD does business represents only one aspect of the OKD Foundation‘s activities. There are other perspectives as well, taking account of the global nature of the world and the latest trends in corporate social responsibility. The continuous development that the NWR group goes through must be mirrored in the evolution of its philanthropy, as it remains a key component of the overall CSR strategy of NWR.
The most immediate goals of the Foundation include projects that will have an impact on the entire territory of the Czech Republic, with a potential effect in other countries as well,“ Suchánek said following his appointment.
Suchánek graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE), where he studied regional economics, public administration and commercial communications. He then worked as a financial consultant, sales representative, project manager, and director of the SOBOfest festival during the years 2007 – 2009. Between 2008 and December last year, he worked as production manager and deputy director of the Czech Pavilion at the 2010 EXPO in Shanghai.
