Two fatalities at OKD mine

Amsterdam, July 11th 2008 - New World Resources N.V. ('NWR' or 'the Company'), Central Europe's leading hard coal producer, regrets to announce two fatalities at the Darkov Mine of OKD, its wholly owned Czech subsidiary.

Two members of a five man team working on the recovery of longwall equipment in Darkov Mine were found unconscious shortly before 9 a.m on Thursday, July 10th. OKD's Mining Health and Safety Services subsidiary, HBZS, was immediately called to the site, but unfortunately attempts to resuscitate the men were unsuccessful.

NWR extends its sincere condolences to the families, relatives and friends of the two men.

An investigative committee comprised of members of the Ostrava Mining Authority, Darkov Mine management, the trade union, and other OKD representatives is now conducting an investigation into the causes of the fatalities. No further information will be released until the committee has concluded its work and completed its report.

Mining in the Darkov Mine was not interrupted, and continues without restrictions.
