Fatality at OKD mine


New World Resources N.V. ("NWR" or "the Company"), Central Europe's leading hard coal producer, regrets to announce a fatality at the Darkov Mine of OKD, its wholly owned Czech subsidiary.

A 42 year-old lift operator was fatally injured in an accident approximately 900 metres below ground on the night of 7 January.

NWR extends it sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the man.

An investigative committee comprised of members of the Ostrava Mining Authority, Darkov Mine management, OKD management, the trade union and the local police is now conducting an enquiry into the accident. No further information will be released until the committee has concluded its work and completed its report.

The accident has had no impact on production and mining activities continue without restrictions.
