Fatality at Darkov Mine

Amsterdam, 20 December 2010 - New World Resources N.V. (“NWR” or the “Company”) regrets to announce a fatality at the Darkov Mine of OKD, a.s. (“OKD“), its wholly-owned Czech subsidiary, which took place on Sunday 19 December.

A 48-year-old miner was fatally injured as a result of a mine quake at the Darkov Mine. Another employee, who was nearby at the time of the accident, appears to have only suffered light injuries. As a precaution, he has been transported to hospital for observation.

The tragic event took place roughly 800 metres below ground at Site 9. kveten, which is part of the Darkov Mine.

NWR expresses its deepest condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the deceased miner.

An investigative committee comprising members of the Ostrava Mining Authority, Darkov Mine management, OKD company and the OKD trade union is now conducting an enquiry into the accident.
The incident had no immediate impact to the production.
