Fatality at Karvina Mine


Amsterdam (23 February 2010) - New World Resources N.V. (“NWR” or “the Company”), Central Europe’s leading hard coal producer, regrets to announce a fatality at the Karvina Mine of OKD, its wholly owned Czech subsidiary.

A 43 year old miner was fatally injured in an accident approximately 1,000 metres below ground on the night of 22 February 2010.

NWR extends its sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the man.

An investigative committee comprised of members of the Ostrava Mining Authority, Karvina Mine management, OKD management, the trade union and the local police is now conducting an enquiry into the accident. No further information will be released until the committee has concluded its work and completed its report.

The accident has had no impact on production and mining activities continue without restrictions.
