OKD, a.s. ("OKD")
OKD is the only producer of hard coal in the Czech Republic, operating in the southern part of the Upper-Silesian coal basin. OKD’s reservers are located in the Karviná and Ostrava regions, covering a total area of approximately 120 square kilometres. The area is noted for the quality of its coal, which has a high calorific value and low sulphur content. Some 60 per cent of OKD’s output can be sold as coking coal. Many of our customers have relied on our coal and its characteristics for decades.
OKD currently operates four active coal mines - The Karviná Mine (combining mining sites ČSA and LAZY), The ČSM Mine, The Darkov Mine, and The Paskov Mine.
